Technical help with Sims 1. How can i change the screen resolution to a higher number?

I play sims_1 on my dell inspiration 600m.But it comes only in a small screen inthe center of the page. (background is black).

i cant find out how to change it. Can some one tell me how please?

go to control panel then to display then settings use the slide bar to chang it to 1024 by 768
