i think you didnt have the right driver for your display adapter. if ur using onboard display just load the driver from your motherboard cd or restore cd. if you using a display card try to get the driver from the manufactured website ie.www.ati.com for a ati radeon display card. after you load the driver im sure you can fix your screen resolution.

You need to open internet explorer and do a update. Maybe that will get you the video driver you seem to be missing. If that does not work you need to find out what video card you have and goto the company's web site and download the newest version you are using. If you cannot find one your video card may not be support. (search the web there may just be one)

Sometimes crudely programmed games will do this, they change your PC's resolution when entering the game but fail to change it back to what it originally was when exiting out. What you were doing before is exactly right, you need to make sure your changing that resolution back to what it was then pressing ';apply'; not ';ok';. It should immediately switch to that resolution, and it asks if you can see your screen, then you click ok. Again, just right click on your desktop, properties, settings, then adjust your resolution and click apply. If you are using Vista, there is no add/remove programs on the list in the control panel. Find your way to Program and Features. Then click on the name of the game and then click on uninstall (the box at the top of the screen).
Apparently, the game changed the resolution for you and assumes you want to leave it that way. I never download or play any trial programs for that very reason. You can run into trouble that way.; they have a tendency to take over your computer and you have no way of knowing if there is spy ware or a virus associated with it.

My screen resolution, by default, was 800x600 pixels. Today I pressed ctrl+alt+down and, instead of making my screen go upside-down, it just made everything really big. OK here goes first right click an empty space on your desk top a pop up menu will appear click properties on the bottom of the menu . A Display Settings panel will appear , click on the settings tab . On this screen you will see a slider and numbers at the bottom of the slider telling you your current resolution . move the4 slider right to make the resolution higher or left to make the resolution smaller. you will get a preview of how it will look. if you like what you see click the apply button at the bottom of the panel and it's done .

yahoo now uses popups to enter rooms,DO NOT turn off popup blocker,no need. click on popup blocker click on always allow.add yahoo.com to list. then the 1st thing you do when you enter lounge is check play small window in option box. if you don't and enter room you get grey screen,if you just close it you are now in a room and if you try going elsewere you will get ';error logging in '; in every lounge..if this happens click on lounge tab and check small window box then click refresh if that doesn't work, reboot and follow above info.once in small room you can expand it,,you only see top half of cards but you can play.and see chat area so you can talk to other players.yahoo is now running sales ads in rooms. email them and complain i did, if everyone does this maybe they will stop it. the site to complain is on lounge select page the HELP button at top,feedback!

How to change screen resolution Windows XP when I can't read anything on the screen.?
I was messing with an adapter was supposed to let me output my computers video to my TV, it is just a simple VGA Svideo adapter, so you have to set the resolution correctly for it to output correctly. I was messing with the resolution settings for what I thought was the secondary monitor (where my adapter was plugged it) but apparently I have now lowered my screen resolution on integrated monitor (it is a laptop) and I can't see anything but some blue and very fuzzy text that says to begin, click your username. How do I click my username without being able to see it? is there a way to reset my display settings to defualt? Just installed ubuntu 8.10 (i think). The resolution was horrible it flickered and was green so i tried to change the resolution (to a higher one, stupidly) and my monitor says ';out of scan range'; so i hit esc like 50 times but it never changed back. Now any time i start up its in the same ';out of scan range'; resolution.
I've tried logging in to the root console and trying ';xrandr -s 800x600'; it just says ';cant open display'; I also tried fix X config settings from the recovery menu, that didnt do anything.
How can i reset the resolution for the user to something like 800x600 so i can at least see to fix stuff in the gui. Or how can I just delete the file that has the profile info (resolution) so it will default to something ?

Have you done an initial download? The drivers for ATI and Nvidia are not included on the CD (legal stuff). Do not go into Synaptic Package Manager just yet. Install these packages and reboot. go to System%26gt;administration%26gt;Hardware Devices and activate the appropriate drivers for your system. Reboot. That's it good luck!

My computer broke down so I sent it to be repaired... What they did was just replace the mother board. I turned on the computer and everything but the screen resolution was fine (the screen was to big for the monitor) I have had this problem before and I know how to fix it but when I opened display properties and changed the resolution to a higher number after I click Apply the screen goes blank then comes up again with the same settings. it sounds like when they swapped the motherboard, they swapped it to a different model, with a different integrated video card. So your computer is trying to use the old video card driver for the new video card.
If they gave you a CD with drivers for the new motherboard, you can run that and install the new drivers. Else if you find out the new model of the video card, you can download the driver

After you have done that you should be able to change the resolution to your normal setting.

It could be that you are using what is known as intergrated video memory which in my opinion is okay because it's free but you are probally going to need an upgrade. Nothing to fancy just something around $50 or so will do.

Help! I've done something stupid and now the monitor on my laptop is really low-res. I'm running Vista on an Acer Aspire. Just before it happened, I was using Alt-Gr and the arrow keys, so I think it's to do with that. it is impossible to change the resolution of oracle forms in the run time the only way to that is to open all the forms with the developer ina machine with the 800 x 600 resolution and compile and make them again.
u can use also oracle project builder for this task.
