I want to change my screen resolution but it is not in the options? can i costumize it anyway?

i recently bought a new 17 inch widescreen flat panel %26amp; everything is wide %26amp; stretched out. the text looks extremely messed up. i want to change the resolution to make it look normal, but i've tried every option under the settings tab in display properties. and none of the options solve the problem. does anyone else know how i can fix this?I want to change my screen resolution but it is not in the options? can i costumize it anyway?
If you do not have the proper drivers installed,it will limit your optons as to resolution. GO to your PC makers site and see if they offer any newer drivers for video. If so, see if that works.I want to change my screen resolution but it is not in the options? can i costumize it anyway?
Depending on the video drive you have, there is an option under the 'Advanced' - 'Displays'

The option you are looking for is called ';Scale Image';

You can either Expand your screen to Full Size OR you can Expand the image while maintaining the correct aspect ration.
If its new, and an LCD flat panel, it should have automaticaly done it when turned on.
